10.   Post study work visa

A Post-Study Work Visa is a special type of work permit that allows international students to stay and work in the country where they graduated for a certain period after completing their studies. 

UK:

Length of stay: 2 years Bachelor/Master graduates. 3 years PhD graduates.

Canada: 

Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

Time frame: 8 months up to 3 years depending on the duration of your course of study.

Australia: 

Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485).

Two Streams:

Graduate Work Stream: Qualifications that are occupational in nature such as on the skilled list. (Term: not more than 18 months, 2-4 years in case of Hong Kong passport holders).

Post-Study Work Stream: Australian institution graduates: higher education graduates. This is the most common.

Length: Bachelor: 2, Master's (coursework): 2, Master's (research): 3, PhD: 3. Graduates of regional institutions have longer stays (not exceeding 4-6 years).

United States: 

Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Time: 12 months on average, on most degrees. STEM graduates have the possibility of 24 months extension (36 months).

New Zealand: 

Post Study Work Visa

Duration & Conditions: Based on the level of qualification and where you studied.

Bachelor's or higher (Level 7+): 3 years if you studied in Auckland or other non-regional areas (with some conditions). Significant incentives for studying in regional areas.

Lower-level qualifications (Level 4-6): 1 year.

Work Rights: Open work conditions for most. Can be a pathway to the Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa.

Germany: 

Residence Permit for Job Seekers

Duration: 18 months.
